Stewardship & Development

There are different gifts but the same Spirit; there are different ministries but the same Lord; there are different works but the same God who accomplishes all of them in everyone.  To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the coming good.

2004 Annual Catholic Appeal Nears Conclusion
The end of the year means the completion of the 2004 Annual Catholic Appeal, which provides critical support to Diocesan ministries.  We hope that every one of our Diocesan staff members has made a gift to the appeal this year.  The support that all of us as members of Bishop's staff and our lay leaders and volunteers show is an important sign of commitment to our work together.  If you have not made a gift and would like to for the 2004 ACA, or if you would like to make an additional contribution before December 31, please contact our office or your parish office.
Annual Funds Manager Denise Moyer-Hand offers the following  ACA results as of December 10, 2004.
Comparing this year's results with the same time last year, total giving to the appeal is up 1.4 percent with a $16,000 increase in net funds toward the Diocesan goal.
Fifty-six parishes are "overgoal" at this time in 2004 compared to 53 last December.
The percentage of participating households is up 1 percent from a year ago and at 38.7 percent is already surpassed the 38.2 percent figure for the entire 2003 campaign.

The web site now includes a link to our flyer promoting the new pre-k tax credits. Look for it on the Pre-K page at  Print it out and give to anyone you know who owns a business!  Charitable gifts outside of the tax credit program are welcome!  Contact Chris Ringkamp for more details.
Stewardship: A Way of Life
More parishes continue to express interest in starting stewardship committees.  Several months ago, Chris Ringkamp held three regional "networking" meeting for parishes to discuss successes and failures of their efforts.  More such gatherings are being planned for 2005.  Many parishes find themselves searching for ideas to increase revenue (i.e., offertory).  Proportional giving is scripturally sound and can help parishes reduce their dependence on fundraising activities that require a disproportionate amount of energy compared to net receipts.
Penn State Catholic Campus Ministry Development
The Penn State Catholic Campus Ministry sent over 10,000 appeals this Fall to parents of University Park Catholic students.  Last year, donor participation was over 7%, and this year the ministry's goal is 9% participation.  For more information about development and alumni relations activities in support of the PSCCM, please telephone (814-865-9091) or email Development Coordinator Jamie Johnson.
