At the heart of the Catholic experience is liturgy, the public prayer and worship of the Church which expresses the identity and character of our Christian life. The Liturgy Office assists the Bishop, the Chief Liturgist of the Diocese, in overseeing quality liturgy throughout the local church by :
Providing parishes with episcopal directives and diocesan guidelines concerning preparation and celebration of the sacraments, public celebration of the liturgy of the hours and the praying of Catholic devotions.
Aiding parishes in their efforts to provide holy and reverent celebrations
Offering regular workshops for liturgical ministers
Providing catechesis on pertinent liturgical matters by way of church bulletin inserts
Working with a fifteen member Diocesan Liturgy Commission in its effort to improve liturgy - by attention to education, use of music, structure and needed renovation of worship spaces.
